18/02/2010. HOME AINT HOME ANYMORE

Today was the first day I entirely realised what the "travel bug" is. The last month has been nothing but time spent abroad and down the East Coast chasing swell. I have never had so many good waves in one month in my life, back in Avalon now I cant bring myself to surfing shit waves anymore, I feel like a spoilt brat. I need to keep going, hop on another plane and keep surfing, time spent back home is killing me.

Myself, Ewan Donnachie, Chris James, photgrapher Andrew Smythe and video dude Lucas Vazquez scored 3 weeks of pumping waves in the Cook Islands this february before coming home straight into a solid South swell where we hopped on the good foot straight down the coast to score epic waves again.
 Photos from the Cooks will be seen in Le Boogie, video will be streamed through the second No.6 podcast and here is a shot from down south posted on the new-look fluidzone.com

Went back down to Vicco on Sunday for a this time not-so-pretty round with the beast. Thats toinzy duckdiving under the pit and that tiny black dot is myself copping a mega bomb in the channel. done.

Thursday the 23rd of December was an in-and-out 8ft Lunas session straight back to the airport on a flight home to a chrissy eve party at the arms. Best fucking christmas ever!

25/08/2009. NEW SEN NO SEN WETSUITS + SETUP.

I received my new pack of suits from Sen No Sen last week and im freaking psyched on how they turned out.
I've been using the 3/2mm Japanese Yamomoto Neoprene suit with chest-zip and i've never owned a suit this good.
Even the 4/3 is still super flexible and with chest-zips on both there is no leakage or anything. The new logo looks rad too.






Colour coded with my new suit im using an all black, white slick No.6 model and Limited Edition beige/orange fins.
Pretty groovy.









23/07/2009. 3rd PLACE AND 600 BUCKS BOOM!



The 4th event of the Aussie Tour went down at Soldiers beach last weekend.
Jones Russel stole away the win with Corey Mclean in 2nd, myself in 3rd and Michael Novy in 4th.

I felt like a bit of a one-trick pony this comp just flipping off everything in comparison to someone like Winny who was mixing it up with inverts and air reverses aswell..
But i guess it was enough to get me to the final. I picked up a sweet 600 bucks for the place aswell as pushing my rating somewhere into the top 5.
With another three events still on the calendar I may still have a chance of taking this years title, we will see.









16/07/2009. NUGGAN MILK

Another East swell smashed the South Coast this week with those in the Shark Island Comp getting the first rounds done whilst the other riders around town were on 2s and Nuggan. I was down the coast butunfortunately was feeling dirt sick and had to sit on the rocks and watch most of the craze go down.
I did however decide to get heavily drugged up on prescription meds and make it out for one arvo with the fellas. Probably a pretty shit idea, but at least I got to surf.

Andrew Smythe also sent me this cool photo, shot before the sun came up one day last swell. Its pretty.












04/07/2009. BARRELS, BOWLS, BEERS, BLIGS, BABES ROUNDDDD 2!

Barrels: Skin torn, leashes snapped, fins lost - there were some pretty big tubes around.

Bowls: A few rare bowls at nuggan, but most of the air time was caught at Chris James's local right.

Beers: Filmer Will Hodgett turning a six drink quota into a dirty dirty dirty alcahol poisoned spew fest... Its alright, he only has to film in the morning.

Bligs: A bitter game of bartering for a price on our hotel accomodation. The owner unforgivingly giving it to us for 15 bucks and a free beer each. The deal worsening when Chris 'Sweet Dick Willy' Wilson takes a 100 dollar pokey win off him 20 minutes later.

Babes: Mona Pub on the way home, serving up 4 out of the 6 boys some tang.

The 5x essential B's of any road trip... Job Done Booooo000OOmmmmooomMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!

16/06/2009. BARRELS, BOWLS, BEERS, BLIGS & BABES!

The five essential B's of any good road trip were just about complete before we arrived home without even seeing a half decent babe the whole time away. None the less, some pretty fun filled times were shared amongst pals on the Sth Coast last week.
Pierre, Corey Daglish and myself alongside the boys behind monksmonastery.blogspot scored and skunked on some small but fun waves around Mills, La Treins and Blackrock. I got a chance to ride my new board model on something other than Avalon dribble which was fun. And the board went sick!

Here are a couple of frames of myself coming out in a new dvd release this year brought to you by the boys at Limited Edition.

17/05/2009. NUGGAN LAST WEDNESDAY.

While im pretty sure the majority of the bodyboarding media were focused on getting amongst a pumping semi-secret right tube on the South Coast last wednesday, myself, Chris James, Adrian Harper and an up-coming Avalon hoodrat Corey Daglish were'nt in any spot to be jealous. Nuggan was pretty much pumping all morning and afternoon with only us and a few touring seppo's on it all day. Will Hodget sent me these video grabs of myself - which can be seen in a new No. 6 podcast coming very soon.

This is probably the biggest air I have done in a while. I tried riding out of it, but landed right in the V of the wedge. I crashed.

Ever since leaving NMD for No. 6 earlier this year I feel like I have been surfing better than I ever have before.
Weather its the boards or something mentally Im not sure. But its probably losing the pressure of always having to compete with BP, Winny and Joe Clarke for Mez's contract money, team heirachy, spots on trips, company adverts and who will be getting signature boards in the new range.
Now with No. 6 I am supported as a high profile team member. So I can kinda just cruise and do my own thing and they will support me for that, which is way cooler. And im happy.

A quality isssue.

This heat was pumping 10ft pipe with only Dave Crowley, Sweet dick willy, myself and some walk-over japanese dude sitting in the channel. Probably the funnest 20 minutes spent in my life. Thanks to Alex O and Danny Black for the photo's.

After a whole week of pumping waves on The Rock I get my first photo - A 1 foot slop backflip out Rocky Point. Booooooooom! Maybe i did come to Hawaii this season.

Alex Ormerod has hooked up a cool deal with Riptide and Jetstar Airlines documenting videographic surf checks every morning aswell as 10 action shots from the North Shore daily. Check it all out here.

Full King issue those industry badboys at movement h.q have come out with this month.
Always so progressive with their content the mag features an array of inspiring photos, stories and women. One of which a roady Dallas Singer, Rodeo Owen,
Chris "grisslar'' James and myself did fanging around the South Australian desert last month.
We jammed a what-would-be conforming three week trip away into the space of about 36 hours. A half day travel getting down there, full day surfing and another half day getting back.No sleep, nothing. Jacked up on caffeine it was like we were desert cowboys for a day baby, Owwwwwww!!!!
